Jessica Doily

This has been one of my projects for the past few weeks. It's called the Jessica Doily, named for my aunt for her birthday. It's a small quick tat. It measures about 6" with size 20 thread. I love love love the last row. The faux ruffles look perfect. It takes a little effort to pin it out the third row, but it is very worth it.

I listed it on Etsy.

Margarita and Luck be a Lady Thread

I've been getting back into the dyeing swing of things. I need to set up another winding machine like I had before. Easy to build and so efficient. That means that I have to sit down and wind by hand for an hour every night. Short on time, I only have two color-ways that I like enough to list.

So, presenting.....

Luck be a lady

This is a St. Patrick's Day color-way. There are several shades of green and then a splash of purple. I wanted to do a different take on the typical greens. I think it turned out nice and delicate. The picture doesn't quite depict the shades of green.

This is a rich, tropical color-way. Pink, orange, and yellow with an icy blue. It's very fruity and cheery.

The skeins are all size 20, 50 yards. Click on the link or picture to visit the page.

$5 each with $1.70 flat rate, tracked shipping.

99 Little Doilies

So my new book came on Friday. It's called 99 Little Doilies. I don't have a picture of the book, but it's absolutely glorious. I've completed these three so far. They are 8 to 10 rows each. The book's patterns range from 8 to 20 rows, it looks like. I was just going by yardage since I wanted to use some of my old HDT that is in 50 yard skeins. The first and third pictures are my old HDT. The red doily is so beautiful. That one I will be doing again. The first one I did without seeing the picture first. I love the fact that I can follow a pattern now without seeing what I'm doing. I'm growing up (crochet wise)!

So if you're in the neighborhood for a fast project crochet book, this is the one. Each one took me no more than a couple hours, if that. Best $11 I've spent on a book, yet!

School Doily #2

I finished this last night. This is the first doily I've been able to complete 100%. My other ones were at most stopped a row short, so this is an accomplishment! The pictures aren't very good, as I got home while it was still dark today but really wanted to post this. The outer petals have the stitch that confused me. FPT I think they were called. I figured it out, and I like it! Nice, thick lace.

This doily measures just over a foot wide. It is #3 Sunflower Bloom in the book Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies. I went to JoAnn to see if they had any more doily books. Not a one! So I ordered a book with 99 doily patterns from Amazon. Can't wait!

I've started on my next. It will be my first oval doily, but might take a while.

School Doily #1

School has been a tad more overwhelming than I had expected. Not in a way that I feel I have no time, but in that time is going by so fast and I don't realize it. It's not something I'm going to fight as I really am enjoying the quick pace. I can't believe that more than a month has gone by already!

In fashion with the never-stopping, hustle, I decided that my (limited) free time should be occupied by something. Crocheting! Ta-da! It's fast, quiet, and pretty mindless. I would have started tatting more, but this is something I want to do during lectures and movies, and I don't think professors would appreciate clicking shuttles. My mom used to yell at me at night for clicking so much.

My first doily. I started and finished this on Sunday after I finished my 6(!!!) hours of math homework. It was supposed to go on more, but that didn't happen.

I couldn't figure out the next row for the life of me, so I just tied off. It still looks pretty. This is #5 Pretty Pineapples from the book Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies. It measures almost 7 1/2", so it's not too bad.

I've already started on my next doily, and, unluckily for me, it had the SAME tricky stitch! Sneaky patterns... But I actually figured it out and only have 1 1/2 rows left on that one. So you will see it soon!

And since I now know that stitch, I will be reattempting this pattern in the future, since I really like the openness and the the tight, contrasting stitches, plus that pretty flower.

More to come!
